Fred Csasznik: Chronicler of a People in Transition
Photographer Fred Csasznik (1913-1985) was an Israeli citizen, born in Germany, who extensively photographed JDC’s work in Israel, such as Malben, an extensive network of social services for handicapped, elderly, chronically ill, immigrant, and other vulnerable populations created by JDC in 1949 in the newly established State of Israel. He also photographed JDC's work in Cyprus, including the historic liquidation of British internment camps. The JDC Archives has presently identified in its holdings over 800 Csasznik photographs which span 37 years.
