Summer Camp around the Globe, 1920s-1990s

JDC has supported summer camps for children across the globe. In the interwar period, camps in Eastern Europe were for health enhancement, offering nourishing food, fresh air, and recreation. In the post-World War II era, they served as venues for rest, refuge, and recuperation. In Africa and Asia since the 1960s, camps have been a setting for Jewish children to have fun and recreation, while in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union since the 1990s, they have helped thousands of Jewish youth reconnect to their heritage and their people.
