Entrepreneurs were Roaring
Dallas businessmen were becoming experts at bringing in economic development by organizing to work together, even as they competed for profit. In 1928, the Chamber of Commerce launched a $500,000 advertising campaign that succeeded in winning 126 manufacturing plants for the city. Each of the 126 hired workers and bought supplies from other county businesses. The Negro Chamber of Commerce became the first in Texas in 1925. They worked together to support and grow African American businesses. The Mexican Chamber of Commerce formed in 1940. Entrepreneurs were working all over the county.
