Dallas became something of a theatrical mecca in the decades following World War II. It began with Margo Jones’ theater at Fair Park. She employed the new idea of the theater in the round, with the audience surrounding the performers. Her theater hosted the world premiers of plays by edgy authors including William Inge and Tennessee Williams. Jones helped launch the Round-up Theater, an African American Troupe.
